I just got off work for the week and I am so looking forward to the chance to make some progress on the many projects that I have on my list. In the last couple weeks I feel like I have been held up by equipment failures nothing major but when you do not have much time to fix things they feel big and the ups and downs of the weather. We got the equipment back up and running and now hopefully we can be repair free for the rest of the spring. I have told the whole family that this is a working weekend but I think that my girls think that means babysit their brother and watch tv. I'll take it if it means we get something done. Our garage needs siding and that is what I plan on working on. I am sick and tired of putting house wrap back on after every wind storm that thinks it is funny to blow in a new direction and take off a different piece than last time. This last week we had quite the wind. I forget how hard it is to do things when it is really windy. Even with my job I did not want to go out in the elements unless I had to. When we lived in Williston, ND we had wind but we were in town and you never really had to work in it. Even when working on the oil pads you could usually get out of the wind. It makes me think I want to add more trees on our place especially to the south since our place has no trees on the south side. I wonder what kind of trees I should plant? The cottontails on our property have done a number on our trees in the last winter. This winter I was a bit more prepared and was able to get them more protected. Well we will see how we do this weekend I am looking forward to it.
Plant tall trees in the north and northwest side of your property.
Put a line of shrubs in place too!
I think the Arbor Day foundation gives great guides to correct windbreaks.
Have fun.
